I have been dabbling in running and other types of self-improvement for a long time. I have always wanted to be a "runner" but I don't seem to keep up the positive changes long enough to build. Last year I did a set schedule of mileage and worked up a base like I've never had before. I ran some races that I had always been in awe of (Dam to Dam - a popular 20k in Iowa, Capitol Pursuit - 10 miler, and the Des Moines Half Marathon.) I have come so much further than I had ever dreamed. Having said that, I still struggle to keep up the miles and keep my body handling the miles. I am very slow and usually end up nearly last, I am constantly balancing between wanting more and wanting to be closer to the middle of the pack and just being elated that I am out there and able to do it!
I want to run consistently and keep making progress. I want to run longer races.

10/21/07 ~ Des Moines IMT 1/2 Marathon ~ 2:59:31
12/8/07 ~ 8 Miles on the 8th - yes I made it up.
2/9/08 ~ 9 on the 9th Valentine Shuffle
2008 ~ Dam to Dam
