Hey Ben, I have no idea when I will make it back up to Iowa. I usually only get up there once or twice a year. I don't think I am going to make it up there for the holidays this year, so it will probably be a while. I'll let you know next time I make the sojourn. If you're there at the same time, we can meet for a run. My mom tells me Oskaloosa just put in a 13 mile running trail that goes all over town. I'm sure Pella has a lot of places to run too.

I hate to sound like a young wipper-snapper, but in 1982 I was 2. I went to North Mahaska and graduated in 1998. I was actually up there for my ten year class reunion over the 4th. We had a great time.

I'll end up getting a Garmin eventually . . . but who knows when that will be. I'd like to hold out for one of the more modern ones that looks like a watch. I know people who run with them here in Missouri. Some of them have no problems, but others have reports similar to yours. I'll keep you posted about it after I get one. Thanks for your input about it!

Keep in touch!

Ryan

Well we can take care of that! I love all runners - but Des Moines runners are extra special and we have plenty to introduce you to in October. In fact, I may try to find a few hanging out in the Lounge that will be running Des Moines and send them your way. You may want to try to search (under Connect with Runners>Search Profiles) under Goals or About ME for Des Moines Marathon. I think we have a few DSM marathoners lurking about.

Hi Ben. Welcome to the Lounge!

Sounds like your intro to running has been great if you started with 100 yards and have added 285 yards plus 26 miles to your accomplishments.

Which marathon will you be running next?

Welcome to the Lounge! It was nice to meet you on your blog and email - and great to see you here!

Let's keep in touch - it would be good to meet at the DSM marathon.
