I live in Springfield, Missouri. I'm married. My wife used to be a competitive cross-country runner, but she doesn't do much running anymore (although she looks like she could run a 5 minute mile at any moment). No kids, but I have two dogs and a cat who are more out of shape than me!
I'm a heavy runner. By heavy I mean my weight (267 lbs, 5'11"), not my miles. That presents unique challenges. I would like to trim some weight, but I don't necessarily run for that reason.
Running makes me feel free and in control of my life. Sometimes I run because I need to get away. Other times I run because I look at myself in the mirror and think "ugh." I often run because I feel fantastic after I finish. Many days I force myself to run because I am required to do so under a particular training plan. The reasons I run on a given day vary about as much as the way I feel when I run.
Last year I ran a half marathon in 2:10. This year I am training for a marathon. I hope to finish in under 4:30. My marathon is the first weekend in November, and it is in Springfield, Missouri.
