Hi Teri. Well the Arizona-like temps have arrived, plus the additional pleasure of the humidity.

I ran Bix 7 last week for the first time and really had a great time. You'll have to plan a trip back to Iowa around it some year.

Last night I watched "Ultramarathon Man," about Dean Karnazes 50/50/50. It was so impressive, inspirational, and downright amazing how he could do that. Unfortunately it only showed one time, for one night in select theatres. But it will be back sometime and you'll want to watch it.

Let's connect soon to get caught up on stuff. Running Portland?

Wanted to publicly shout out "Way to go" about your race this weekend. Your time and PR are really impressive. BTW, you need to share your success with your friends and not keep your outstanding performance to yourself.

Don't you think the reason for your success is because Iowa is such a great place to train and race?

It's exciting to think of the possibilities for your next marathon. You gotta be thinking PR for 26.2 now!

Congratulations, Teri!

Good to see you this morning at Copper Creek. I'm so bummed that we didn't get to race. I was really excited for it. I'm online right now looking for a tri to do next weekend. There's one in Davenport. Wanna come? ;)

Teri, Thanks for the nice comment. D2D was bitter sweet for me. As a 1st timer, it was great just to be there. It was my first event longer than 10K. As for the run, I wanted to do better. I guess that makes a PR easier for next time? :)

Did I just see you had a PR this year? Congratulations!

Congrats on your PR! That is fantastic! I had something weird going on and got sick about mile 6 and had a hard time finishing. One of those days just to make it to the line. But nonetheless, happy to have the chance to be out there running.

Hi Teri.

Congratulations! Is that a PR for you on the DTD course? You must have run a very smart and strong race. No surprise. Your hard training is paying off.

I ran pretty close to the shape I'm in, 1:44. It felt very manageable, but wish I had a little more speed. My tough hill was before Morningstar drive. Just didn't have much left thee.

Let's trade notes soon.

Recover well as you have your tri ad races coming up soon.

Hi Teri,

Good luck on your race tomorrow! I hope we have a chance to connect on the dam before the race!

Everyone gets nervous at the swim - pretty natural. Just remember that anything goes for that distance - you can side stroke, breast stroke, doggy paddle - whatever - until you get into your groove.

Wish I would have had more time to catch up on Friday during lunch. I have a couple tips about TRI's - probably nothing you haven't uncovered yet - but I will pass them on just in case:

- Brick workouts are the most important thing you can do and practice. Getting your legs used to running after biking makes the transition easier and the last leg of the race easier.
- You will feel like you are running slower but you will run faster off the bike. Practice pacing and strategy for the 5K portion of the run.
- Since it is a sprint, practice more "speedy short" distances. It was a change for me to go from 1/2 marathons and marathons to running a 5K off of a bike. You almost have to remind yourself to push harder (if you want to).
- Practice transitions from swim to bike and bike to run. Everything from laying out your gear to what you wear. It's even good to get a swim on a beach in there at least once to find out the best way to deal with sand in your shoes, etc.
- Don't forget to fuel on the bike before the run.
- Enjoy! Sprints are so refreshing!

Yell if you need anything!

I've been way out of touch. We'd better get together soon or it already be time for Dam to Dam. I'd like to hear how your TRI training is going. Lunch soon.
